Poem: The Dragonfly

Do you ever think about a moment

you simply can’t get back?

Wonder in unknowing waters how to return

But just don’t have the know how…just don’t have the knack?

Today a winged dragonfly lay

down beside me on my garden rug.

He said, “hello, just passing through,

but please take notice as I’m not your average bug.”

I responded, “oh my, why no you’re not!”

and proceeded to the default within me that I do best…

Instead of continuing the wonderment and conversation

I move to my camera to capture all the rest.

Feeling unappreciated perhaps

unheard, or simply just perturbed

The dragon of the flies moved on about his day

Annoyed at being disturbed.

Meanwhile, I lay camera ready

Silently awaiting the magical moment to return,

“You wished it away for unknown eyes and selfie snaps”, the wind whispered

“My dear child, when will you ever learn?”
